Beyond Ski
Dream Together, Ski Together
Our Story
Beyond Ski is a non-profit student club founded in 2019 that aims to spread awareness of climate change through the common interest of alpine skiing. This club is led by young elite ski racers from Korea, which include former and present members of the Korean Youth National team and certified ski instructors. Currently, members of the club are actively promoting skiing as a sport and serving the community with their talents.
Our Mission
First, Skiing with Our Community.
Each year, we hold a winter ski camp named “Beyond Ski Winter Ski Camp” to provide opportunities for the underprivileged children to learn skiing. In affiliation with the Northern Gyeonggi Foster Child Center, members of Beyond Ski hold ski camp to teach the sports we love to the children in the community. Skiing as a sport can be rarely accessible for some, considering its high costs for equipment and the ski resorts. Through this camp, we try to lower the barriers of skiing and introduce it to the children of our community. In order to raise money for this project, we hold the “Sharing-love Bazaar” before each winter season. Although we had to temporarily suspend our activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to resume our winter camp from 2021. Now, we are once again preparing to hold the “Beyond Ski Winter Ski Camp.”
Second, Skiing for Our Greener Future.
Under the slogan, “Save our sport, skiing, from global warming,” we are actively trying to preserve our skiing industry from getting extinct due to rising temperature and shortening winter seasons. Some experts say that skiing will be one of the first sports that could vanish into history if these abnormal climate trends continue. To prevent this, Beyond Ski is campaigning to protect our environment, and therefore, keeping the sport we love for future generations to experience the fun of skiing.
